IMMOLATION – Kingdom of Conspiracy

IMMOLATION – Kingdom of Conspiracy

Here´s a contender for Best Album of 2013. Immolation´s ninth output "Kingdom of Conspiracy" is a lession in violence and technicality that takes almost anyone back to school. This is the definition of pure death metal done the US way. Technical start/stop arrangements with great harmony delivered with a punch that sweeps you of your headbanging feet. Ross Dolan & Co should not need any introduction. Immolation have been a forerunner of death metal since their inception back in 1988 (then as Rigor Mortis) and their 1991 debut (as Immolation) "Dawn of Possession" is considered of of the best debuts ever in genre.

Immolation have always taken their music to the limit with furious riffing and time signatures that sometimes takes a trained ear to decipher. One of their strongpoints is to create a havoc of melody in the wall of sound that hits you and Dolan´s vocal never lets you down on top of it. It warms my heart to his voice on top of Rob Vigna´s always top notch guitar playing. This is just priceless music and I cannot find anything to put my finger on except for maybe the cover art. It just does not rhyme with the music behind it, but as long as the Immolation logo is on top you´ll know what the deal is anyway.

2010´s "Majesty and Decay" proved that Immolation´s formula to death metal never gets old and when they topped that release with "Kongdom of Conspiracy" all we unworthy mortals can do is drop to our knees in ave for the masters of death metal.
