Formed out of the ashes of Lord Belial, Sweden has a new black/death metal unit to appreciate with Death Tyrant. Their debut album "Opus De Tyranis" contains 9 songs of aggressive black metal screams, equally extreme riffing and rhythms that recall the best mixture of the two genres from Scandinavian lands. The band intertwine this cultural/ mystical melodic side when the tempos slow down with horror-oriented trilling and fierce double bass/ snare action as the sounds careen majestically.
A logical continuation of what Lord Belial delivered in their productive years, as well as a healthy dose of Dissection and Vinterland throughout, songs like "Baphomet" and "A Greater Alliance" gets the job done more than adequately in terms of brutality, heaviness, and chilling atmosphere.
