CREEPER – Welcome To Room #9

CREEPER – Welcome To Room #9

The Texas metal scene has always been a fertile breeding ground. The quartet Creeper from Dallas continues this tradition with their modern blend of aggression and hard hitting grooves on this debut album "Welcome To Room #9". The speedy, frantic soloing from guitarist Jimi Fritz coupled with maniacal screams from front man Daniel Watkins make songs like "Now" and "Push It" perfect for people into Pantera, Reverend, and the vocal style of David Wayne with a twinge of Tom Araya.

Most of the songs are in a mid-tempo, anthem territory, with staccato-laden elements to keep the groove aspect front and center of the arrangements- as well as easy to ingest choruses that should gain favor with live audiences. There are times where I feel the drumming of Rico could be a touch stronger, as he seems to play it safe and mechanical with some of his straightforward beats.

Overall Creeper provide decent entertainment value for this first album, and I can foresee plenty of adrenaline movement with these songs.
