DAWN OF VALOR – Immortal Flame

DAWN OF VALOR – Immortal Flame

A 12 minute, 3 song plus intro EP from Minnesota power metal act Dawn Of Valor quenches my thirst for great, independent music. "Immortal Flame" is more in line with the aggressive form of this style, not necessarily the ‘happier’ strains where choirs, keyboards, and symphonic elements rule the land. Bands such as Iced Earth, Cage, and Nevermore come to mind when taking in excellent arrangements, stirring riffs, and powerhouse melodies within "Lutetium", catchier "Valkyrie Sky", and slower, more epic-oriented/ story telling "There Can Only Be One".

Recent news from their Facebook page lets us know that vocalist Jaden Adair left the group: one hopes that are able to find as strong a replacement as he has a confident, multi-octave power that allows Dawn Of Valor to capture your ears vocally as well as musically. With a full length album hopeful to hit the streets in 2013, pick up on "Immortal Flame" if guitar oriented power metal is your favored style, as this band know how to keep the excitement level on high.
