New hard rock outfit with some veterans from the business on their self-titled debut. Bridger contains XYZ vocalist Terry Ilous and Head East’s guitarist Glen Bridger and bassist Greg Manahan among others. This is a very straight ahead, bluesy laden affair, quite reminiscent of Deep Purple meets Great White. The album ends with their own interpretation of Black Sabbath’s “Heaven And Hell”, which will be hit or miss for many consumers in its programmed drum stance.
The acoustic/electric playoffs in the Mr. Big-like “Free” raised a cursory eyebrow, otherwise Bridger is another case of talent not meeting songwriting excellence.
