NOX – Blood, Bones and Ritual Death
This EP from Dutch Death Metallers Nox does little to push the envelope as far as innovation and originality are concerned. The production is clean and modern, but the songs are the type of thing Morbid Angel were growing out of in the early 1990’s.
While the musicianship is excellent, the songs don’t grab enough, aren’t fast and brutal enough and don’t conjure enough of an atmosphere to give this release any lasting appeal. Perhaps these are issues that could be improved on with a longer release, but for the moment, I’ll pass.
