Second album from this act featuring Last Autumn’s Dream vocalist/ keyboardist Mikael Erlandsson – “Heart Of The Machine” contains 11 songs of smooth, melodic hard rock with strong similarities to West Coast AOR and the aforementioned LAD. Big hooks, impressive vocal harmonies (background vocals from David Reece an added bonus) and consistent songwriting all across the board lift songs like “Feed Your Hunger”, “The Long Haul” and a supreme ballad like “I Will Be There” to the heights of acts like Pink Cream 69 or Wicked Sensation.
Martin Kronlund injects the right balance on guitar/bass and production to keep Salute honest and infuse a passion of bluesy reverence during the mid-tempo title track and keep his technique bouncy during more radio-oriented numbers like “My Part In This Pain”. 44 minutes where you feel like you take a trip back to the 80’s… enjoy the ride.
