CHEZ KANE – Chez Kane

The talented British vocalist Chez Kane teamed up with Danny Rexon (Crazy Lixx) for this slick, memorable, and melodically rich slab of 80s-inspired rock music and the result is a satisfying one. With Rexon producing the record, composing the song material, and arranging everything, this one very much inhabits some of the characteristics and trademarks of his work with the aforementioned Crazy Lixx, but obviously, this is a completely different setting and with Kane singing this is no mere rehashing of old ideas or a second-rate copy of something.
This self-titled album is easy on the ear and even easier to absorb, the tunes possess an invigorating and uplifting vibe, and it comes across as an inspired piece of work with a sense of purpose and determination to it. This is pretty far from being original, but the songs are catchy, Kane’s vocals are great, and Rexon has an impressive knack for crafting infectious hooks, so if you are a sucker for polished, melodic (hard/AOR) rock with plenty of keyboards that sounds as if it came out in late 80s, there really is no reason why you should not check this one out. It works for yours truly when in the need for something where the melodies are the focal point and the choruses suitably big and irresistible. For a teaser, check the energetic track titled “Midnight Rendezvous” out.
