HAYK ERSEMERCI – Hayk Ersemerci

The solo artist extraordinaire Hayk Ersemerci presented just this one eponymous EP for our amusement and consumption but, sadly, I cannot find any info on where the man comes from. Perhaps, it is better this way so that we can focus on the music at hand which is very good, indeed.
While Hayk makes progressive metal his base, he is both skilled and comfortable in melodeath (Soul Glo) as well as metalcore a’la Trivium (Rekall), but he is at his best when he skilfully melds the genres such as on the excellent and infectious black metallic/Lamb Of God-ly "Zuul" or my favorite near perfect Nevermore-rian "The Gold Room" with a fantastic Pantera-ic breakdown. In fact, it is the latter which begs for vocals and it’s the only reason why it’s imperfect.
Hayk Ersemerci’s knowledge, skills and abilities are unquestionable and this eponymous EP proves them abundantly. However, the tracks reveal the need for vocals as they are actual songs rather than compositions. Whether it’ll be Hayk himself or someone else, man, please add vocals. Otherwise, very good job, Hayk!
