"We Come From the Mountains" by the Norwegian quintet Tiebreaker is the band’s debut album, which was released back in 2014 in Norway by themselves, but now the ever-reliable Karisma Records have re-issued it with the purpose of spreading the group’s dirty and bluesy rock far and wide and to all corners of the world. In other words, it is an international release of the debut album.
The music spawned by these five Norwegians has a 70s hard rock vibe to it mixed with a bit of progressive rock in places. The blues is obviously also something that these guys love and cherish as every song off this 9-track effort has this bluesy and dynamic groove to it. I hear a lot of Led Zeppelin in there, but parallels to bands such as Deep Purple and early Rainbow are also discernible in places. Luckily, Tiebreaker have put their own stamp on things and the album has this peculiar Norwegian melancholy to it that appeals to me. Whether you are into raw and gritty blues rock or 70s hard rock (or something inbetween) I suggest that you check this release out. It is solid pretty much all the way through. A bit predictable in places, but still memorable and entertaining.
