SINNERS MOON – Atlantis

Sinners Moon is a six-piece symphonic metal act from Slovakia that on their debut album "Atlantis" create a lot of similarities to Nightwish, Epica, and Children of Bodom in terms of their songwriting and performances. Containing male and female vocals that cover the spectrum of operatic and clean work to growls, tracks like "Fly to the Moon" and "Memento Mori" ring familiar if you’ve followed symphonic metal for any length of time, the orchestration and pacing tailor made for larger festival audiences. "My Servant" features Sonata Arctica’s Tony Kakko making a guest vocal appearance, a barnstorming double bass led effort where he trades off verses with the operatic Simona and growling Derick.
At 11 tracks and 61 minutes, there’s a lot to digest – so prepare to spend some time absorbing the orchestration, bombast as well as tranquil moments such as the piano driven closer "Upon a Star". Sinners Moon aren’t really bringing much unique to the table, so at this point understand that "Atlantis" serves up a safe helping of what you already know.
