A quintet with dual male/female extreme vocals, this modern death ‘n roll/ groove metal debut album "Sound of Desperation" gains an international re-release thanks to Finnish label Inverse Records. Their sound has the guitar slice and dice attack of Nevermore meets Lamb Of God, along with brutal thrash/death drumming and vocals screams that will burst your larynx at the seams. Miasmic Theory consistently shift the rhythms and tempos up- so you won’t feel like this is one 10 song album not separated with dynamics.
I have to be in the right pissed off mood to full appreciate "Never Ever", "Failure" and the In Flames-ish "All I Am"- because the monotonous high bristle screams wear on the ears quickly. Talent is present for certain, I just believe Miasmic Theory’s core audience is well under the age of 30, seeking relevance and an understanding of where they fit in the world.
