This is my first encounter with the Polish black metal entity known as Königreichssaal, and I must say that I am impressed with (and rather intrigued by) this splendid little 4-track EP of theirs, which is frontloaded with stellar ideas and thick, impenetrable atmospheres of the moody and contemplative variety.  

Superbly produced in terms of balancing harshness and definition while also conjuring up an aura that strikes these ears as being unbearably cold and cynical, the whole well-composed affair almost feels like an embodiment of negativity. The vocals courtesy of De Atevs are excellent, frighteningly efficient, and filled to the brim with anguish, despair, and bottomless loathing. In addition, the majority of riffs and arrangements feel slightly unorthodox too – all of which is very positive and lends a touch of charisma and originality to these chaps’ malicious black metal venture. The song named “Wampyr Heretyk” needs to be heard to be believed as there is absolutely nothing traditional or run-of-the-mill about that one.

A rewarding little journey through inner darkness that instantly made me look up their previous releases and outputs.
