On day two of Hellbotn festival I saw Helvitnir, a band formed in 2023 that has already released one album. Featuring members from Mayhem, Myronath, and Images of Twilight, among others, their set was a strong introduction to the day. It was particularly exciting to hear some new compositions by Hellhammer, performed live by Leonid Melnikov (Koldbrann). Helvitnir delivered a solid performance and showed great potential for the future.
For fans of 80s-inspired heavy metal, the night offered two standout acts. First came Remi’s (Inculter) one-man project Morax, which turned out to be a real highlight. Morax delivered a high-energy show filled with classic heavy metal riffs, captivating the crowd with raw power and enthusiasm.
The second day continued with Tyrann from Sweden, a band that includes former and current members of Tribulation and Enforcer. Their extensive experience was evident in their tight musicianship and their fresh take on Swedish rock and heavy metal traditions. The audience responded with enthusiasm, making the performance feel both dynamic and engaging.
The black metal onslaught reached its peak with Tsjuder, who unleashed a varied setlist spanning much of their discography. Their trademark ferocity was on full display, and, true to tradition, a Bathory cover was included. Finally, the night closed with Enslaved, who crafted a balanced set blending newer material with their classic Viking-era anthems. It was a fitting finale that left the fans thoroughly satisfied.
