The ridiculously endearing monsters known as Lordi are back with a new output and sound as over the top and joyous as usual, which means that there is nothing new under the sun as such, but the best parts of the sixteen-track offering are so cool and funny that you would hardly know that we are in the end times at all.

Their tunes are obviously all about entertainment and by extension entertaining the listener, which means that Limited Deadition is as easily digestible and catchy as is to be expected, and that is a good thing, mind you. We need records such as these now and again. It neither offers anything revolutionary by Lordi standards nor does it see the group expand their musical universe and take things even further into a grotesquely charming territory, but then why would it? Their formular clearly works quite well and the LP offers its fair share of fun and escapism without necessarily setting the world on fire. Its inability to maintain and uphold its momentum and level of quality throughout is obviously a problem as there are too many fillers on the disc, and some of the jokes and humorous puns and whatnot do wear a little thin after a few spins, which is to say that you need to look elsewhere if you want something with longevity to it. Like I said, the most memorable songs and passages are fabulous and work like a charm if you feel like detaching from the world around you for a little while. Uneven without being short on cheap thrills, fist-pumping riffs, and fake blood, if that makes sense.
