IRIAN DARKWOOD – interview

Introduce yourself as an artist, and describe your latest release:

A: My name is Irian Darkwood, I’m from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada, I am a rock and metal artist, and my newest release is called Light at The End of The Tunnel, it’s due to come out April 4, 2025, and this song has a message of hope and recovery through dark times.

What’s the hardest part about being an artist in this day and age?

A: I think a lot of competition with streaming sites and things like that makes it a bit difficult sometimes especially where you know as artist a lot of us are aiming to have live performances it’s hard to get audiences sometimes

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?

A: I started working on this probably nine years ago now, and it went on the back burner for a little while, but my current team saw it and they liked it and they said it had the potential to become a bigger song so we then started working on it and here we are, so I don’t think it ever actually lost its potential so to say.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?

A: I think anyone should check out my new release if you’ve ever been through hard times in life and you’re looking for that encouragement that there’s hope and that you’re not alone it doesn’t matter what the hard time is it could be mental health or addiction, or anything like that, I think it’s something that people can relate to because I don’t think there is anyone on the planet who hasn’t been through something hard.

How does a song typically come together for you?

A: I typically write a poem first, so the subject of the song comes into my head and then I write a poem on it, and then I take it to my team and they take a look at it, and then they help put it into a song format for me because ha ha that’s not really one of my strengths, but that’s the beauty of having a team they really help a lot, and then we put it into computer, and we make a project out of it, and then we start working on it ha ha

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?

A: if I were to describe my sound I describe it as in emotional, hard hitting, rock/metal soundWhat

do you want listeners to take away from listening to your music?

A: if I want anything to be taken away from my music is that people understand that they’re not alone and that there’s always somebody around who understands something of what they’re going through in someway.

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?

A: Well if I’m to be honest, I haven’t started doing live performances yet, but hopefully soon I’ll start doing that. But when I do start I would love to tour Europe, mostly because I’m going to be moving there, and of course in Canada because I’m Canadian.

How would you say that the sound has progressed over the years?

A: I started it out of the country singer, so I have to say it’s progressed quite a bit ha ha

How excited are you for 2025, and what can fans expect from you?

A: I’m really excited for 2025, and I’m really looking forward to putting out more songs, there’s lots of really good things in the works right now so keep an eye out and it’s coming so get excited!
