Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:
Hello Eternal Terror readers, we are Victor Sierra. I’m Commander Bob, I play guitars and other instruments and I write all our songs. The other members are The Legendary Princess who sings and Piløt X-Ray, our half alive third member who is charge of the computers’ stand behind us on stage. We have released an EP in 2024: ‘Let me be your Ghost’. I guess the title says it all about our universe, neurosis, and obsessions. There are four tracks, all different.
What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?
It depends on your way of writing and performing. I think the only move, for an artist, that can’t and won’t be challenged is performing live. Mostly with AI getting bigger day by day. Robots won’t take our place anytime soon but we all know it’s already there and possibly able to write songs. On the other hand, very little money can be made through streaming platforms and physical albums are almost forgotten. Live shows are what’s left for artists to exist. And we love that. So…
When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?
This question is irrelevant to me. I don’t think this way when I write songs. Of course the challenge always comes when we play a new song on stage.
Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?
We’ll released single on April 25th. It’s called ‘Hazmat’. Directly connected to the unquiet days we live at the moment. You always think: that’s it, we have touched the bottom. But no, the bottom is ever further away.
How does a song typically come together for you?
It suddenly comes and I can’t help but rush to my guitar or my computer. I’ve got notes and words and ideas piling in my mind. I can hear them playing and it doesn’t stop. It goes on and on and it can even be painful sometimes if I’m driving or such. Some might think I’m a loonie when they hear me humming melodies I record on my cell phone.
How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?
I would say: go listen to it and make yourself your own opinion. Then if you like our music let’s talk about it or not. We’re influenced by many things, not necessarily musical. I’ve crossed various trends. When we met the Steampunk world it was like shoes waiting on the road and perfectly fitting our feet. I guess it shows in our music.
What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?
Energy and of course the desire to listen to more of Victor Sierra.
Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?
Japan could be our next goal if any opportunity came off the ground. But basically we’re ready to play anywhere.
How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?
I think the energy of our industrial rhythm section has increased. Some says lyrics have become more cryptic… Are they right? Our sound is certainly more compact and powerful.
How excited are you for 2025, and what can fans expect from you?
We’re now working with Deadfall Management. They will help us with the release of our new single. We’ll hopefully hit the road and tour as soon as possible. Thank you for the interview and stay tuned to: https://linktr.ee/victorsierraband
