ROBLEDO – Broken Soul

I was and still am quite fond of James Robledo’s previous album, the one named Wanted Man, and I am pleased to announce that his latest solo effort titled Broken Soul sounds like the natural successor and follow-up to the 2021 release.

Broken Soul is very much a mixture of punchy hard rock and melodic heavy metal with a sharp and current-sounding sheen to it. The production is loud, crunchy, and powerful with our main protagonist being quite prominent in the mix – and rightly so as his vocal melodies are utterly impressive throughout. Although some riffs come across as a tad uninspired and a few compositions are somewhat uneventful and devoid of thrills, the record is a good and sturdy piece of work in the overall perspective and one that delivers an abundance of melodic treats and great vocal hooks. In short, this eleven-track slab of modern rock is worth looking into for fans of the genre as tracks such as the epic ‘Fire’, the atmospheric ‘Dead City Lights’, and the instantly memorable (not to mention passionate) ‘Over’ are excellent and deserve a wider audience.
