Norwegian death/grind quintet Forcefed Horsehead unleash another track form their forthcoming full-length debut album “Monoceros”, due out on March 24th via Owlripper Recordings.
Titled “The Black Sun”, and is described by No Clean Singing “The music’s crushing oppressiveness is inescapable, and so is the bone-smashing impact of the rhythm section. They methodically apply brutal jackhammer blows that you can feel in your teeth and bone marrow, they crack the skull, and they mercilessly slug the guts. And when you might least expect it, they convulse in obliterating bursts as the guitars create seizures of madness.”
“The Black Sun is what happens when a death metal inspired grindcore band ventures into doom metal territory. Says the band, “It`s a bleak and gloomy song about the moments before eternal sleep sets in.”
“On this song we wanted to do something different from the fast paced and in-your-face stuff we usually do and it is also the first song we have done where we incorporated electronics. The additional hell drones and drips of electronic soundscapes were made by our good friend Saint M from Serenity Trace.”
If you missed it, leading single “Every Death You Take” is still playing at this location.
Under the description, “Norwegian grindpunk” Forcefed Horsehead find themselves on the crossroad between death metal, punk, hardcore, black metal, post rock, prog, madness and general hysteria. With no compromises or no rules, the band have always wanted to push the boundaries for an intense and chaotic soundscape without losing their love for groove and melodies.
The quintet released their first EP “Forcefed Horsehead” in 2011 on the medium of the future, cassette tape and was followed shortly after by two EPs “Deux” and “Hunting Witches”. Forcefed Horsehead has previously shared the stage with such great acts as Cannibal Corpse, Sulphur, Rotten Sound, God Mother, Gatecreeper and the grind crusters in Cloud Rat.
During the Corona pandemic, Forcefed Horsehead recorded their brand new and highly anticipated LP «Monoceros» at Vakuum Studio in Oslo, Norway with Pål Gauslaa Sivertzen behind the levers.
“Monoceros” is a 12-track sonic uppercut that goes right for the jugulars. Thematically it explores the notion of human decay as an entity and how much self-destructiveness and collective annihilation comes from apathy, greed and self-proclaimed prophecies.
