Wildnite is undoubtedly one of the most interesting and aspiring hard rock outfits to have come out of Norway for quite some time, and these skilled dudes sure know what it means to write stadium-sized tunes with infectious riffs, sharp hooks, and awesome choruses to them. Their latest effort, which is titled “Symphony of Apathy”, strikes a good balance between the raunchy and uplifting on the one hand and the slightly darker and grittier on the other, which means that you get a dynamic slab of octane-fueled rock music here that will thrill you to bits.
These guys have definitely matured as songwriters and their new LP sounds and feels more cohesive and organic than its predecessor, which is saying something as the debut offering was packed with great ideas and relentless energy too, but yeah, this 2022 opus marks an improvement and they come across as more seasoned, confident, and focused than earlier on. One could list other acts such as Wig Wam, Ammunition, L.A. Guns, and perhaps even Def Leppard at their heaviest as points of reference, but honestly, who gives a fuck about any of that when Wildnite have crafted such a cool and memorable record as this one that is also guaranteed to find its way back to whatever listening device you employ when you want to immerse yourself in some kick-ass hard rock? The only thing that lacks a bit of juice and power is the sound of the drums but in no way does that take away from the fact that “Symphony of Apathy” is a wildly entertaining ride. This one bodes very well for the future. Standout tracks include the fierce “Coming Home” and the towering “F.U.B.A.R.”.
