What we have here is relatively modern-sounding thrash metal (with a few metalcore and melodic death metal touches to it) that recalls The Haunted and Reclusion to a certain extent – only that Three Dead Fingers sound slightly filthier and rawer than the two aforementioned outfits, that is. If you want groove and ear-splitting riffs, these youngsters’ latest musical grenade ought to be added to your playlist as it contains several killer cuts that are begging to be played live in front of a manic audience. It is not merely a ferocious and relentlessly aggressive attack on the senses; these skilled dudes vary the pace and throw in countless mid-tempo parts, mellow passages, and some slow, crushing sections that add some diversity to the foul proceedings. One could argue that the record’s greatest strength is the amount of enthusiasm and determination that courses through it, but the thing is that the songwriting also holds up and delivers. Who in their right mind would claim that neck-breaking tunes such as “Issues”, “Brain Fog”, and “Freakshow” are not fiery delights from the pit of the Swedish underground? They also have a sense of humor and sarcasm as evidenced by “The Albino Trees”. It does lose a bit of steam towards the end with the last couple of tunes not being altogether that noteworthy, and there is certainly room for improvement with respect to the clean vocals being utilized now and again, but overall, this is a good release that shows great promise.
