Veislakt dabble in raw and face-melting punk rock with a strong metallic undertone to it and I might as well start off by telling you that we are dealing with bunch of scumbags whose songs have a filthy snarl and some vicious riffs to them. "Sandnes Undergrunn Circus and Kabaret" (now there is a title for you) is hard and aggressive not to mention that it has loads of attitude and charisma to it.
The 11 kick-ass tunes that constitute the record have plenty of bite and wicked hooks to them, which warrants repeated listens, and Veislakt are definitely not as one-dimensional as some punk rock acts tend to be. These guys plow through their reckless material with passion and conviction like there is no tomorrow. The album and in particular the lyrics are highly entertaining and even somewhat absurd, but there is weight and depth to these compositions and they possess a glorious fuck-you underground vibe that is both charming and appealing. Highlights include "Øynene", "Blod i Manesjen", and "Lyse Dagen".
Veislakt are not exactly bringing anything new to the table as such, but this wild and raging beast of an album is an exciting and strangely enjoyable listen. Did I mention that the production is great too and packs a punch? Foul-mouthed and ugly Norwegian punk rock/metal with insanely catchy riffs and memorable choruses to it? You bet!
