DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT – Transcendence

DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT – Transcendence

So, where to begin… To be honest, Im not sure if I have anything more interesting or new to say about the wonderful and incredible talented Mr. Townsend that hasnt been said before, by me or others. This guy, who first made a name for himselves singing on Steve Vai´s "Sex & Religion" back in 1993, is one of the main reasons why I love music the way I do and why music is my life. I dont like all of his music, far from it. But the songs I like, the songs that hits me, they hit me hard, and stays with me as life goes on.

"Supercrush", "Save our Now", "Coast", "Fallout", I could go on and on, the list of amazing and timeless songs are endless, and "Transcendence" immeditely reveals the same quality with the first singel from the album, a monster of a song called "Failure". Its one of those songs that makes the world stop, and nothing really matters excpet that very moment. Its already on the great world wide web, and if there is any justice in the world, this song should enter the top of all charts and receive massive support and playtime. But the world is not like that. In this world, a guy with a computer and no knowledge of music will sample and program his way to fame.. Back to "Transcendence"…Which is everything you expect from Devin these days and more. Its epic, massive, overwhelming and powerful, and while Anneke, Che and Katrina delivers amazing vocals throughout the album, Devin really showcases once again what he is capable of as a vocalist, along with some of his best guitarwork ever. There you go, another classic masterpiece ready for human consumption, thank you Devin.
