FEAR OF DOMINATION – Atlas

FEAR OF DOMINATION – Atlas

Shouldn’t be surprising that these Finns decide to blend two sub-genres into their own cocktail for "Atlas". Intertwining industrial metal and melodic death, it’s easy to surmise that songs like "Divided" and "Adrenaline" have a lot of Fear Factory cyber-angst meeting Soilwork primal force going on. The band also add in a more modern electro-dance touch a la Amaranthe at times in the keyboard tones and uplifting chord choices, especially evident in "Primordial" where there are even some 8-bit video game nuances.

As long as you can handle the fact that Lasse Raelahti’s keyboard layers play as important of a role to Fear of Domination’s sonic platform as the crunchy guitar and wildly extreme to gothic vocals of Saku Solin, then "Atlas" can be a left-field winner. Their imagery and painted faces certainly fall in line with their shock-industrial stance. Good for the times when you need something propulsive, cold, and still groove-oriented.
