Melodic doom/ gothic metal from the United States here, Deathwhite release a second 5 song EP in "Solitary Martyr". The trio prefer to keep a low profile as far as members, letting their Katatonia meets Sentenced-inspired music do all the talking. The guitars fluctuate between electric and acoustic proceedings, while the vocals are very emotionally driven in a post-rock meets alternative manner. The vocal melodies and musical matching for "Vein" has been addictive as caffeine, while the title track is probably their most dramatic to date.
Keeping their songwriting ideas to a focused 4-5 minute time frame, Deathwhite succeed in bringing back a lot of the early 90’s feel meeting alternative/post-rock nuances to a sweeping, thought provoking process. "Solitary Martyr" is one of those recordings that ruminates, oscillates, and captivates when you least expect it.
