TORMENTOR – Prophetic Deceiver

A little more melodic in the twin guitar department, the full-length album "Prophetic Deceiver" reminds us that California thrash of the new generation is here to stay. Tormenter straddle the lines of old school and new school, the vocals of Carlos Rodelo very familiar to Warbringer fans, while the dual guitar heroics of Jahir Funes and Joey Cazarez possess a mixture of Exodus, Testament, and Heathen flavorings. The title track’s opening sequence has a little Metallica vibe until the spacey riffing and pulsating bass take over, while "Sacrilege" is just beefy thrash served the way most underground fans desire.
10 tracks and 40 minutes of explosive musical combustion preserved in all its digital glory, Tormenter has all the tools, musicianship, and songwriting skills to be one of the new leaders.
