OBLIVIOUS – Out of Wilderness
The third studio album from Sweden’s Oblivious is another barnburner for those who love throwback, bluesy oriented hard rock. "Out of Wilderness" swings for the fences, none of that extraneous feedback or extended instrumental jamming taking place- you get 8 songs in 28 minutes featuring a mixture of soulful vocals and catchy hooks – equally taking from the Sabbath/Zeppelin template as they do Queens of the Stone Age and Clutch.
Harmony background vocals aid the overall addictiveness for "Riding Down", while Böris’ wah wah guitar pedal use gets "For Who Do Burn" off to a tremendous start. The quartet shift gears frequently, adept in more of a slower, seductive manner for "Midnight Mess" while being straight forward and heavy on the Sabbath-oriented "Bang". Crack open your favorite beverage, sit outside a warm fire and partake in the comfort that is Oblivious.
