Former Tad guitarist/ vocalist Tad Doyle has a new trio of doom and gloom from the Pacific Northwest, the aptly named Brothers of the Sonic Cloth. Active since 2007 and only releasing a split 10" vinyl and demo to date, this self-titled debut full-length is 44 minutes of primal sludge in a doom metal package. Although Peggy Tully on bass is female, she certainly packs an evil, down-tuned bite in songs such as "Unnamed" and the hypnotic "I Am" – while drummer Dave French delivers the slow march in a heavy veneer.
Expect songs that are longer for the most part (7-11 minutes for the four main songs), while intros and outros provide respite from the aural despair. If you are having a miserable day, or need something to release pent up stress for in a safe manner, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth is the soundtrack to your feelings.
