Italy’s notorious purveyors of black/doom metal, FORGOTTEN TOMB, are set to release their new album, Hurt Yourself and The Ones You Love.

The album is a mix of melancholy, groove and pure malignancy. Band leader, Ferdinando "Herr Morbid" Marchisio explained: "We kept the sound very organic and natural, kinda old-fashioned but still very fresh. The new songs are heavy as fuck and they feature our classic trademark plus some new elements. I can’t wait for people to listen to it, it’s a really special album for us and probably the most extreme we’ve done in quite a while – both musically and conceptually".

On working with producer Terje Refsnes (Carpathian Forest, Novembre, Gehenna, Destroyer 666) for the first time, Marchisio commented: "We worked really hard, like never before. Terje is a really experienced producer and he managed to get the best out of us. We are extremely proud of how this new album came out".

Hurt Yourself and The Ones You Love was recorded and mixed in Sound Suite Studios (Marseille, France) by Terje Refsnes. Brad Boatright of Audiosiege Studio (Corrosion Of Conformity, Nails, Vallenfyre, Beastmilk, High On Fire) then mastered the album in Portland (Oregon, USA).

With over 10 years of activity, 4 full-length albums, live shows all over Europe, and a worldwide underground following, FORGOTTEN TOMB definitely deserves its cult status in the current extreme metal scene. With now-classic albums like the milestones Songs To Leave (2002) and Springtime Depression (2003), the band practically crafted and gave birth to a whole new sub-genre. Now regarded as depressive black/doom metal – the band have evolved, destroyed and reshaped the genre with the highly acclaimed Love’s Burial Ground (2004) and the controversial Negative Megalomania (2007). Breaking down every kind of musical boundary and expanding their sound, FORGOTTEN TOMB incorporate a wide range of musical influences (from metal, rock, and dark fields) into a unique playing style.
