BLOOD GOD – Blood Is My Trademark

BLOOD GOD – Blood Is My Trademark

The German heavy metal/ hard rock subsidiary of the death metal act Debauchery, "Blood Is My Trademark" contains 10 songs in a straight forward Judas Priest meets Motörhead style, as Mr. Debauchery (aka Thomas Gurrath) handles the vocals/ guitars and his band mates (Mr. Kill- guitars, Mr. Blood- bass, Mr. Death- drums) tackle the rest. I’m questioning the length of "Slaughterman" and "Monstermaker" at 6:22 and 6:16 respectively, as this isn’t complex music needing length instrumental sections or choruses that bare repeating 20 times per song. "Sexy Music Is for Sexy People" and "Mr. Kill" are great song titles, but little else works for my ears as this is very juvenile, by the book, and devoid of anything exciting as far as riffs, hooks, and tempos.

There’s only so many similar slow double bass parts, gang/ shouted one to three word choruses, and interchangeable guitar breaks, intros, and outros one can take before you want to scream for mercy. And if that’s not enough to whet your metal appetite, the limited edition contains the same songs with death vocals as a bonus… for all you Six Feet Under fans, rejoice!

Low brow music can be entertaining when done well. "Blood Is My Trademark" doesn’t succeed because the musical interplay and tempos wouldn’t even make the grade for the demo stage of their influences.
