GRIND ZERO – Mass Distraction

Grind Zero is an Italian death metal quintet who came together in 2011, releasing a demo "Forceful Displacement" in 2013 and now their debut full-length "Mass Distraction". Employing dual hoarse/ growling vocals, musically the band slash and dash in a mid-tempo to blasting manner, coming up with a sound in line with Morbid Angel meets Entombed if thrown through a Sepultura/ Soilwork blender when they decide to moderate the breakdowns and tempo control.
Try as I might, as good as some of the aggressive riffing and sheer brutality resonates on "War for War" and the punk-i-fied "Modern Slavery", the monotone, nails on a chalkboard vocals strip a big part of the pleasure factor. The presentation is appealing – unfortunately all the parts necessary for execution do not match up.
Back to the drawing board for Grind Zero I guess.
