The second album from Sweden’s Vanity Blvd, "Wicked Temptation" is a stripped down hard rock affair led by the sultry feminine charm of vocalist Anna Savage and 3 male musicians sure to bring back memories of early Aerosmith, Guns ‘n Roses, and the much missed Saraya. Letting their music do the talking, you’ll feel high octane material like "Miss Dangerous", "Scream Out", and the power ballad "Falling Down" ready to rumble all across the pubs, bars, and festival stages that the quartet take part on.
Anna’s voice certainly has that classic Lita Ford resonance, but she can also belt out her melodies with a lot of soul and blues – check out the more commercial oriented "Desperate Heart" or the early Ratt-like primal push for "Do or Die" to truly illustrate her versatility, in the pocket presence, and magnificent ability in the hard rock realm. Guitarist Traci Trexx performs on an emotional level – as if channeling the greats from Page and Hendrix on through to Angus Young, Joe Perry, and Slash – keeping his lead breaks in line to the arrangement, and also adding a little bit of flair for the dramatic when called for. Best cuts to check out his multi-faceted work include "Hot Teaser" and rear end kicker "Dirty Action".
Delivering a total package as far as cover art, in your face production, and the songs to back it all up, "Wicked Temptation" bridges the past 80’s glories and presents modern material for all generations to cherish. There’s just something bubbling over about the Scandinavian hard rock/ metal scene these days- and Vanity Blvd deserve all of the attention they are receiving.
