EDGEDOWN – Statues Fall

Edgedown is a German heavy metal band on the modern side a touch for their debut full length album "Statues Fall". Expect guitar work of a galloping and dark nature, chanting/ gang background vocals, and a general melodic vocal approach. Artists such as Primal Fear, Iron Maiden, and especially Iced Earth came to mind on "In a Dream", the moodier moving power ballad "Wasting Time" and gritty "Fate".
Talent is present, originality not quite there at this point. It will be interesting to see how the follow up fares in terms of songwriting and band chemistry. "Statues Fall" is not without its merits though- for those who love the aforementioned artists, I think you’ll find plenty of entertaining moments, emotional lead breaks, and passionate melodies/ vocals.
