ELYSION – Someplace Better

Fusing gothic metal with electronic/alternative pop elements, Greece’s Elysion on their second album "Someplace Better" develop a highly infectious cocktail, packed with melodic hooks by the boatload and simple arrangements tailor made for instant consumption. Using American talent on the engineering, mastering, and mixing department, it’s little wonder that songs such as "Fairytale" (featuring a semi-rap stance in the verses by Christianna), the dark power ballad "The Promise" and Sevendust-like "Breakfree" have that modern bounce that should go over a storm with all fans of Amaranthe, Evanescence, and Lacuna Coil.
When it all comes down to it though, Elysion and these 10 songs aren’t really grabbing new attention more so than repeating licks and tricks from artists far more established and better at this style.
