BLACK ROSE – Turn On The Night

BLACK ROSE – Turn On The Night

Forming in 1990, this Swedish melodic hard rock/ metal band on their fourth album "Turn on the Night" release 9 songs in that comfortable Scandinavian hook-laden style. Using Europe, Rainbow, and Pretty Maids as their guides, you’ll hear guitar hero oriented tracks like "The Bold and the Beauty", the reflective ballad "We Were Winners" and the neo-classical nuances for the title cut that keep the feet tapping and the hands clapping.

Vocalist Peter Thederan has one of those softer, bluesy-oriented voices that could be hit or miss with your tastes, as it’s melodic for certain but not the most powerful in the business. Those who live for Scandinavian hard rock will find plenty to delight in this record- my favorites include the charging "Hunter" and closer "Our Wisdom" with its Dokken-like vocal harmonies.

You may want to seek out some samples before blindly purchasing this release.
