KAMBRIUM – Shadowpath

German death metal act Kambrium hit the scene with an epic dose of mid-tempo fury on this debut album “Shadowpath”. Jan Hein’s keyboard play sets up a lot of theatrical moments on winning tracks like “Thanatos” and “Hollow Heart”. Bassist Martin Simon displays a clean gothic voice at times, but normally delivers a sinister death/black montage which works well on the guitar driven escapades like “Among The Lost” and mystical “The Eye Of Horus”.

Even a fun song like the short “Dewfall” gives Kambrium a chance to stretch their musical wings and almost hit power metal territory. Overall “Shadowpath” should appeal to the Ensiferum/ Wintersun crowds, a good first effort and a band to watch for down the line.
