ARKAN – Salam

It’s all cool with the Arabian flick flacks and all, but sometimes too much is just that, namely too much. I mean, it’s cool with the variation and the choice of tunes and all, but what is it that Arkan really wants? Sarah Layssac’s Eastern-sounding vocal is great, but at the same time it takes the album’s power down a level or two. The album’s sound is great and it is varied, and Arkan’s Oriental death metal has all the ingredients. But somehow I end up with the feeling that I have listened to the same song for like one hour. And, with their debut being more powerful "Salam" feels like a drawback.
