ANGELUS APATRIDA – Clockwork

ANGELUS APATRIDA – Clockwork

If this album was released in America in the eighties it could have been talked about the five big ones today. Angelus Apatrida performs thrash metal the way it was performed back then. The band plays on all clichés of the genre and they do it really well. The singer sounds like Dave Mustaine on some songs, particularly “Get Out Of My Way” and “National Disgrace” have an early Megadeth feel to them. Still, I would say that the band altogether sounds more like the bastard child of Testament and Exodus. I am sure anyone with a predilection for any of the previously mentioned bands will enjoy “Clockwork”. The riffing tuff and very well executed throughout the album, the sound is just as these bands use to sound, and the singer fits really well with the genre and with the band. The only drawback is that the melodies could have been more memorable. With stronger melodic content, these guys might release a retro thrash metal classic the next time around.
