Emerging from Teesside, THE LARCHES channel the weight and abrasion of sludge metal through a modern alternative rock lens. Taking cues from the likes of Acid Bath, Eyehategod and Crowbar, the four-piece balance slow-burning heaviness with emotionally charged songwriting, creating music that is as oppressive as it is honest.
Smother The Hero offers another glimpse into the band’s forthcoming EP, Nihilistic Majesties. Across five tracks, the record explores themes of collapse, isolation and endurance, pairing crushing riffs with dense textures and an unflinching sense of atmosphere. It marks the band’s strongest and most focused release to date. “This record is a sermon from the void — five hymns for a world unravelling,” says vocalist Noah Annandale. “It’s the sound of what’s left when everything else burns away.”
THE LARCHES will celebrate the release of Nihilistic Majesties with a hometown launch show at the Georgian Theatre in Stockton on Friday 24th July. Further live dates are planned throughout 2026 as the band continue to build their reputation on and off the stage.
