DAVID MOORE – returns with new single

Striding out of Texas with a classic rock influenced sound, David Moore returns with his monumental new single ‘Mysteries of Life’!

The road to 2026 has been an incredible trip, and David explains how he got here “After being away from music for almost 20 years to raise a family, I retired from a 35 year career in the airline industry, moved to rural northwest Texas, set up my studio and began work on my first album titled ‘Seventeen’ which was released in November 2022. In the Spring of 2024 I released my third album ‘Get The Led Out!’ as a tribute to Led Zeppelin. I am currently in the studio working on my fourth album ‘A Wink Is As Good As A Nod To A Blind Mule’…a tribute to my lifelong friend Jim Patterson…”

Over the last decade, there’s been an emotional and personal core ever-present within David’s creative process, he elaborates on this crucial thread “For a number of years I had an idea for a project in the back of my mind to do a tribute album to my late best friend Jim Patterson. Jim passed away in 2013 and he and I had collaborated on many songs from when we met in the late 70s and we played in bands together in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Jim was a very talented musician and a wonderful guitar player. So, I contacted Brian Patterson and Jay Michael Smith (The Speaker Wars) to see if they would be interested in helping me put together aforementioned album ‘A Wink Is As Good As A Nod To A Blind Mule’! Which is a collection of original songs that Jim and I participated together on. It is in his memory I continue to release music in hopes that people can hear a bit of Jim and know something of him.”

Mysteries of Life’

When it comes to the creative process of ‘Mysteries of Life’, David went to extensive lengths to perfectly capture the track “I chose ‘Mysteries Of Life’ to be on this tribute album because not only do I like the song but it was one of the few songs that Jim wrote the lyrics on. I don’t recall any conversation we had about what he was thinking when he wrote the lyrics…in fact I had to look up the definition of astral projection because I had no clue what it meant. ‘Mysteries Of Life’ was in our set list when we played together in a band called Chaser back in the 80s. Chaser was Jim Patterson on lead guitar, Wes Jarvis on lead vocals, rhythm guitar and keys, Wayne Jarvis on drums, and myself on bass and vocals. To put this recording together, I used my studio and coordinated with Jay Michael Smith from his studio in Dallas for the guitar parts. I first recreated the drum track from an old recording of Chaser by meticulously creating a midi track and recreating the drum part that Wayne played on the song, so in essence it is Wayne Jarvis playing drums (Wayne passed away in 2014). I then sent the drum track to Jay Michael where he recreated the guitar part Jim played on the song. He did a masterful job of capturing Jim’s style…when I listen to it it sounds like Jim playing. When I got the guitar tracks back from Jay Michael I recorded the bass, added some rhythm guitar and attempted to record a vocal track. Wes sang the song when we played live and I just couldn’t pull it off, so I went in search of a male vocalist. Ralph Galetti out of Albuquerque, New Mexico responded to a query I had posted. I sent a mix to Ralph, he recorded the vocal track in his studio and sent it back to me. I did the final mix in my studio and sent it to Jeff Lowes (The Speaker Wars) of OTR Mastering for the master.”

From past to present…

“I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and have always been interested in music from an early age. After meeting Jim Patterson a friendship began, and it’s a journey which lasted until the very day Jim died. My musical style began as kind of folk-rock, as a result of playing an acoustic guitar, however my true influences were shaped by rock music from the 60s and early 70s. Artists like Donovan, Steppenwolf, The Jaggerz, Guess Who, etc. However, the greatest influence was Led Zeppelin. I remember hearing ‘Communication Breakdown’ on the radio and was immediately captivated by the sound. The first album I purchased was ‘Led Zeppelin III’ which interestingly had a number of acoustic based songs on the album. I used to listen to the songs deeply. Jimmy Page and his guitar playing was captivating, however my true appreciation of his wonderful talents were his production skills. So not only is my writing in multiple genres from folk-rock, classic rock, pop-rock, blues, funk-rock, and some ambient instrumental attributed to Led Zeppelin’s constant morphing to new sounds and styles, my production and mixing styles are also a descendant of hours of laying on my back studying their sound.”

Mysteries of Life’ is a unique musical journey through rock unlike anything you have ever heard before, and it’s available via streaming platforms right now!
