DARKFLOW – interview

DARKFLOW – interview

Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:

Our band DarkFlow is a Shock Metal act that is known for his really dark and intense music, while also being a band that has a very unique and theatrical performance. Our music is very deep and intense, you can listen to our last release called “Imminent End” which is a very controversial album about the apocalypse and the fight between good and evil. In this story evil wins. The lyrics and the music are very intense and our album is a conceptual album that goes in crescendo. Awarded as the best self produced album by Rock Hard magazine, you can really have some fun listening to it and see for yourself this prophetic kind of album.

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?

Royalties, and entering the music industry. It’s hard and very proving to do quality music and trying to enter in a collapsing and changing industry.

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?

When we first founded the band between Flow and I (Sean Horror). It was very hard because we did and we still do this for fun but with the ambition to make a career out of it and give people shows and give people the pleasure to have fun while watching and listening to our job. We’re humble people but with ambitions.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?

Our latest release is “Imminent End”, a very strong album that talks about the end of the human race, the apocalypse and the fight between good and evil. Giving evil the win. It is a very well produced and composed album with amazing orchestrations, compositions done by Flow, our lead guitar player and a very well constructed narrative. Now, the sound is amazing and it was all produced with Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), who recorded, mixed and also mastered the whole piece. We won an award for the best self produced album.

How does a song typically come together for you?

Nice question, we don’t have a “way” of doing music, Flow is the main composer but we work together, we do them how they come, sometimes I do vocal melodies, sometimes Flow does a whole composition and I add the lyrics and voice. We work as the music in each song demands. Every song is very important.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?

We have a very intense heavy/thrash sound mixed with a very powerful orchestration. We give all we have to create something unique and unheard, sound-wise. It’s a whole new universe.

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?

Well this is hard to say, but if you ever listen to DarkFlow, take attention in the music style, compositions and the lyrics are very important to understand the concepts of our music.

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?

In all Scandinavian countries, I think there’s a great niche there for us, but I might be wrong. We would love to go to the states and also the UK. We’re not the most known band in the world but we would love to make a good name to give people great shows and have some minimum requirements so we can play with all our stage decorations.

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?

Well, as every band we evolve from one album to another and we do the best in our interest to play as well as we can when we record. We give it our all. So since 2020 and now we have had big sound evolutions, from our EP “6”, then our album “Insane Circus” and now our beloved “Imminent End” album you can feel the difference in sound, evolution.

How excited are you for 2025, and what can fans expect from you?

Well this year I had many health things to recover from so we’re expecting a good 2026. 2025 is more promotion and giving people the best to know from us.

Hear DarkFlow and follow us in this very shocking journey !
