PÂENIL ERA – new album out

Pâenil Era is a black metal project from Timsoara, Romania. The name represents an anagram of the Romanian words ‘Pâlnie Rea’, which translates to ‘Bad Funnel’. Symbolizing a broken or partly functional filter that takes in a flow of subconscious dark thoughts, it represents an attempt to connect with the subconscious and give a voice to the dark side of the psyche.

‘Idle Cage’ is the 4th full length album and comprises 4 lengthy and linked songs, that total up to about 32 minutes. Lyrically, Idle Cage approaches themes of evasion, freedom and struggle. It’s about the desire to escape, and all the challenges that come with it.

Idle Cage is being released via Neuronoir, a new label from Romania that focuses on post metal, black metal and other derivatives. The album will be available on CD and Cassette, and can be ordered on https://neuronoir.art

The band was formed in 2012 under the name Signatura Rerum. The name was inspired from one of Jacob Boehme’s books. It means “The signature of all things”. The band takes just the title of the book: a concept, in which every object from the real world has a hidden meaning and that all these signatures are interconnected. Lyrically, the band wrote about a self-created fantasy world, until the release of Deviere in 2023, when the band changed the name of the project to Pâenil Era, due to conceptual reasons.
