Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:

Hy guys, we are Monkey Intrusion, a band based in Trieste, an average town in the northeast of Italy. Our latest release is “Hard Times”, which is a song about the doubts on how life was spent and the troubles that we had to cope with. It develops in different genres and rhythms, trying to give the listener a musical cinematic experience.

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?

We guess it’s being noticed since there are so many artists on the digital platforms. Another big issue is to find venues giving a chance to original music.. many prefer to stick on cover bands thinking it’s the safest way to guarantee good incomes.

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?

We always thought that our songs could give something to the listeners, but probably when Marco Bertoli joined us on the drums we realised that the sound was mature enough to take it a step further.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?

As we said, it really is almost a cinematic experience with different themes slowly developing while rhythm changes many times. We think you can really find in it the genres that each member of the band likes the most. So give it a try! It’s surely familiar but totally different from anything you’ve listened to!

How does a song typically come together for you?

Well, there isn’t a straightforward process since there are four minds writing music. So usually it goes this way, somebody comes up with an idea, plays it to the others and then it all begins.. everyone is a part of the project, adding with his own instrument to better the song.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?

We’d say that it’s hard to give a definition of our music and sound.. we create a blend of genres to match the emotions we’re trying to convey. What is recognizable on all of our tracks is a hard rock, classic hard rock sound.

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?

We certainly hope that we’re able to stir the emotions that we put in our music. We always thought that music is mostly an emotional journey.. at the same time the lyrics of some songs deal with aspects of our society we don’t agree with or we really fear!

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?

At present we are trying to cross the borders of Italy. We’d really love to do it because fronting crowds coming from different cultures must be amazing!

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?

Well, we hope there’s a better and more professional approach in most aspects of making music.. at the same time we think we retained the genuine excitement of writing and playing.

How excited are you for 2024, and what can fans expect from you?

So far we have released four singles: “The Brighter Side”, “Fire Dancer”, “Life” and “Hard Times”. There are more to come along with the full album that probably will be timed with a big concert. At the same time we are working to come to play in many different countries hoping to meet you all!
