ABOMINATED – Traumatic Putrefaction

What a gloriously disgusting and most brilliant of things this slime-soaked opus by the Polish horde known as Abominated is. Rooted in old-school death metal of the most vicious and catchy kind, this half-hour journey into horror-filled territory where crushing riffs, morbid vibes, and punishing vocals reign supreme is an outstanding experience. Traumatic Putrefaction embodies everything that I love and cherish about the death metal genre in that it possesses a thoroughly dark and all-consuming atmosphere, memorable compositions that contain dynamics, and an abundance of drive and focus. In some respects, Abominated remind me of Obituary at their very best only much rawer and more unpolished, but I would wager that the primary reason for me comparing the two is that both entities have that uncanny knack for conjuring up sounds from the gloomy depths that instantly grab you by the collar and then proceed to beat you into submission. Words such as punchy, notable, and haunting definitely come to mind here, but another way to go about that would simply be to state that these nine ungodly tunes are positively unforgettable and that every fan of underground metal of the lethal variety ought to acquaint themselves with Traumatic Putrefaction this very instant.
