HOSTIA – interview

Hostia is a deathgrind outfit from Warsaw, Poland, established in 2017 and who has managed to build a mystic image surrounding the band and its members and offers a clear focus on their intense music.

Their most recent releases from 2022, Resurrected Meat EP and, a third album, Nailed leads the guitarist St. Anacletus to describe their sound as “Godless groovy grind”. In the quick paced interview below, you can learn a little bit more about the band’s sound and plans for the future

Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:
St.Anacletus: Godless Groovy Grind! No need to talk – go fucking listen!

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?
St.Anacletus: No need to moan on anything. I do really like it all the way!

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?
St.Anacletus: When we released the first song and got really good feedback as well as attention from the labels.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?
St.Anacletus: It’s purple! If that is not enough – I don’t know what is!

How does a song typically come together for you?
St.Anacletus: Mostly I collect the ideas alone at home, record some demos, and when I am happy with them – then show them to the rest of the band and we work together to finish them.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?
St.Anacletus: Fast and furious!

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?
St.Anacletus: Pure pleasure!

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?
St.Anacletus: Across the Europe and across the States! Because we haven’t!

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?
St.Anacletus: I think we are sound more intense and are a bit more various, but still brutal!

How excited are you for 2023, and what can fans expect from you?
St.Anacletus: Quite excites as we have confirmed some great festivals like Mystic Festival, Summer Dying Loud, Injure Grind Fest, as well as we will headline polish eliminations for Bloodstock Festival!
