CREYE – II

The Swedish outfit named Creye recently released this sophomore twelve-track effort of theirs appropriately titled "II", and what we are dealing with here is a vigorous take on slightly slick and polished melodic hard rock/AOR. Apart from being full of youthful energy, the album strongly indicates that these guys are hungry as hell and aim to leave their own mark on the rock scene, and believe me when I say that there is a lot to enjoy here.
In addition to good melodies, solid vocals, and quite a few interesting arrangements, the sound of the record is appealing in that it complements the vibe and feel of the tunes perfectly. Spirited tracks ala "Siberia" and "Closer" are as catchy as they are thrilling to listen to thanks to the sheer craftmanship of the pieces and their seductive melodies.
"II" contains plenty of arena-sized rockers and is both uplifting and deftly executed (without being innovative), and this was a most pleasant surprise to yours truly and a worthy addition to the AOR/melodic hard rock canon of cool records. Fans of Def Leppard and H.E.A.T. ought to make a note of this album.
