BLACK STAR RIDERS – Heavy Fire

Yes! The US/Irish hard rockers Black Star Riders are back and they do not disappoint this time around either. What is it about this band that just makes it better and better as the years pass? Their latest effort, "Heavy Fire", is the most varied, dynamic, and ass-kicking output to date. Each and every track rules and never before has a BSR album sounded so cohesive and coherent as this one. You can just tell that these guys had a great time making this one. The tracks are so full of energy and class that listening to it feels like a blessing. Hardly a single second is wasted. There are no fillers whatsoever. The sound has a very lively and vibrating vibe to it, which leaves me feeling that I am actually listening to the band perform in my living room when I turn this fucker up loud and close my eyes. You want to know which tunes are destined to become classics down the road? I will tell you now; you need to check out the melancholic "Dancing With the Wrong Girl", the intense "Testify or Say Goodbye", the aggressive "Who Rides the Tiger", and the emotionally charged "Cold War Love". "Ticket to Ride" is a masterpiece as well. On top of that, the production really encapsulates what the band is all about.
Need I tell you that the musicianship is stunning and excellent all around? No, that is what I figured. You know as well as I do that Black Star Riders is a truly great band and that you need to invest a hell of a lot of time in "Heavy Fire" as soon as it is released. Why are you still hanging around?
