THE NEW BLACK – A Monster’s Life

German heavy rock act releases their fourth album "A Monster’s Life" – this time seeking out the professional studio and producer chair of Jacob Hansen. The 10 songs are consistent in the sense that this has a modern bite and melodies ready made for arena-like audiences: Nickelback, Shinedown, and Alter Bridge would be three big similarities when you take in "With a Grin", the sultry groove-oriented "Dead in the Water" and mid-tempo guitar-heavy "Better".
More attention to background details from bigger than life vocals, stronger hooks, and tighter construction of the parts could give this record a longer shelf life than most in the modern/heavy rock genre. Subscribing to an old school feel in the sense that the record clocks in at a tidy 35 minutes, "A Monster’s Life" keeps the quintet’s eyes on the prize – translating these songs to the hordes while the band circle stages from Europe and beyond.
Probably their best effort to date.
