This greek horde of legends need no introduction, unless you have been living in a cave for the last 30 years. These guys are true pioneers of dark and extreme metal, and has evolved from the underground back in 1987 in to the impressive and remarkable unity they are today. Needless to say, a new album from Rotting Christ is always something to look forward to, come 2016, and "Rituals"…
This is not black metal. This is not death metal. This is dark, brutal and beautiful music, worshipping and warmongering at the same time. The songs are epic, fascinating and overwhelming, with spoken words superseeded by hypnotic chanting, and it sometimes feels like you are caught in a great battle, in an acient time in a forgotten land, or in a ritual of sacrifice, after the battle is won… The balance between the extreme and the melodic parts are perfect, take "Elthe Kyrie", fast paced and haunting, before giving you goosebumps when the guitars kikcs in at 3:21, as does "Thou Thanatou", when the same guitars offers relief at 2:15. Rotting Christ prove themselves once again as one of the masters of not only the greek extreme metal scene, but also as one of the leading and unique metal bands around today.
