AD HOMINEM – Antitheist

Ad Hominem are a black metal act hailing from the Piedmont region of France. ‘Antitheist’ is their fifth full gallop through the universe. As you might guess from song titles like ‘Go Ebola,’ ‘Glory Hole Jesus’ and ‘Before You Turn Blue,’ this is misanthropic, anti-everything BM in the vein of Carpathian Forest ‘Fuck You All’ era.

Whereas before some of their output had industrial and harsher leanings, this is a quite accessible form of BM, delivered with plenty of thrash and old school influences in the mix. I am happy to report that it works a treat. ‘Antitheist’ has enough ascerbic darkness to please fans of more orthodox BM, but coffinloads of catchy riffs and choruses to snag the more casual listener.

This is definitely a record that delivers on multiple plays and an album I find myself drifting back towards. Hopefully the band will get out and play a few gigs to spread the message.
